House of Sampoerna
As the home of one of Indonesia’s most famous kretek cigarette factories, House of Sampoerna has become a popularattraction for tourists in Surabaya.

The building is a wonderful 19th-century Dutch structure, originally an orphanage but later converted into a theatre. The former lobby is now the museum containingexhibits on the use of cloves, the history of kretek in Indonesia, along with uniforms and drums of the Sampoerna marching band. There's also an incredible collection of cigarette lighters, holders, and cases, mainly from Europe while some from Ming dynasty, as well as a vintage Heidelberg printing press.

Going upstairs,you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the factory’s work floor, where hundreds of women hand-roll, trim and pack cigarettes at an amazing speed,with their fingers blurring in motion. The fastest rollers here can produce about 4000 cigarettes a day.
On the east side of the house, you can also find a nice cafe and an art gallery.
