Reviews
We (three elderly male Swiss) came from Phuket by boat, heading to one of the southern islands. Stopping over at Krabi, Renato's "Viva" surprised us by its unbiased "italianitĂ " and perfect cleanliness, testimonials of the owner's Italian and Swiss roots. The random exploration across the menu was an "embarras de richesses", and all of our choices revealed excellent in both, quality and price. Renato did not only prove to be an excellent host, he turned out to a very helpful friend in finding adequate accommodations - including the "Joy Bungalows" Resort on the southern Jum Island, where we spent a couple of highly memorable days in an unspoiled environment. - Thanks, Renato; hope to see you again.
Since many years this is my favorite restaurant in the Krabi Area. The Pizzas are the best and the Tagliatelle "Pirata" so delicious.I recommend to all who make a stop over in Krabi Town.A must!!!
It was the best restaurant we had in 2 months in thailand. Typical italian Food but everything was perfect and the prices very low. Pasta, pizza, typical italian charcuterie, cheeses... Very good. We recommand this restaurant for everyone. Staff very nice.
the 1st time i visited our provincial capital, Krabi, in Sept 09 (shortly after moving to Koh Lanta), a Thai friend & i went to Viva... the immediate, genuine smiles of Renato & his staff welcomed us in, and the food? love at 1st bite... i go to Viva at least once every time i visit Krabi (at least every 1-3 months), and have never been disappointed; the staff remembers your personal preferences after the 1st visit (for instance, i always like a straw w/my coffee so as not to stain my teeth) the homemade pastas are incredible, the pizzas sublime- the various Mediterranean meat & cheese platters always delicious (i admit to craving their Parma ham & mozzarella plate; they always let me order a half portion as its so big) authentic Parmesan, mozzarella, olive oil & balsamic vinegar- every item is fresh and made from good quality ingredients- at Viva, the customer is always right (the very capable & gregarious Thai chef to this day teases me good-naturedly about the time i had an admittedly strange desire to put anchovies & blue cheese on the side for my minestrone soup) my mother's family was Italian, i grew up knowing real Italian food- and this is the real deal- doesn't matter what you order, or how you want it done or augmented- they will exceed your expectations every time... if you find yourself in Krabi town (a major travel hub of south Thailand), you owe it to yourself to seek out Viva- you & your tummy will be happy you did!!!
