#227, Norodom Blvd, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
good and affordable place ($4) to go to swim ( big and small swimming pools). They also have gym, tennis court and aerobics but I never tried it.The changing rooms could be a more clean and improved.
This is just a gym. It does not belong the the tourist attractions of this city. No more than the shopping mall or gas station.
This place has extremely old equipment (standard for Cambodia) but has tennis courts and a swimming pool. It has cheap rates - especially for monthly or when 2 or more join at one time. The staff is friendly. The place is reasonably clean and the gym is open air (no air conditioning).
VIP Sport Club is a great alternative for those staying in hotels that don’t have a pool or sports facility. It is about 10 minutes south from the riverside by motorcycle. It is a great spot, had a wonderful time. I was staying in a hotel on the riverside with no pool or sports facilities and felt like working out and also spend a few hours swimming and taking it easy by the pool. I called a couple friends and invited them to join me and we headed over on motorcycle to check the place out. Upon arrival I inquired about pricing and found that they have very reasonable offerings: 1-day pass for $5 or a book of 5x1-day passes for $15 and they also have monthly and annual memberships. I purchased the book of five and they allowed me to share with my two friends. The staff was very friendly, eager to explain the offerings and spoke very good English. We tried the pool, gym, sauna, steam room, food & drinks and the fish massage. According to their website, they also offer: Tennis, Table Tennis, Aerobic, Khmer Boxing. At the check-in table we were given a lock and key for the locker room and a towel. The locker room is adequate; the lockers are half size, more than enough room for all your clothing, no winter coats and stuff to leave here. We visited the gym, pretty typical setup, where I spent 30 minutes doing aerobic exercise and I noticed it’s more difficult as the body heats up faster in hot climate so be careful. Next was a quick change and off to the pool. After a mandatory shower, then mandatory flip-flops for safety on the slippery surface around the pool, I was in 7th heaven doing laps for an hour. The pool is 15m x 30m rectangular shaped with your typical sloping shallow to deep end design. I ordered some ice cold fruit shakes and we spent another couple of hours totally relaxing on this fantastic hot sunny day. There is a snack bar with an assortment of foods and drinks for purchase. The pool is lined with comfortable deck chairs, tables and umbrellas and a waiter brought our orders directly to us by the pool. There is also free WiFi and I noticed several expats with laptops around the pool, but I didn’t try it so I can’t comment on quality. I highly recommend the VIP Sport Club and look forward to visiting on my next trip to Cambodia.
