Why Veligandu Island Beach is special ?
Veligandu Island Beach, covers 22 acres, about 600 metres long, is one of the best beaches in Maldives. The island beach can be accessible by seaplane from Male Airport in just 15 minutes and it has only one resort. This particular flight is an experience by itself offering magnificent views of the golden sands islands and the clear waters. This is a great place for snorkeling with a waterproof camera at hand to photograph the exuberant marine lifeon its shores. Veligandu Island Beach with it's unique white sands and turquoise waters is really a big favourite not only with visitors but also with honeymooners.
What to explore at Veligandu Island Beach?
A fine beach runs down both sides of the island and, at the southern end, a good third is a broad sandbank, which is what ‘veligandu’ means in Dhivehi. The long stretches of white beach are so quiet that you’ll sometimes feel like the only people on the island. Once you’ve kicked off your shoes and cooled down with an icy towel and a drink, you can sign up for diving, boat trips to see turtles and dolphins, and tours to nearby islands. Or you can simply take in the view of the sea from your private terrace and do nothing at all. It’s paradise for a romantic break, with honeymoon written all over it.
How to get to Veligandu Island Beach?
Trans Maldivian Airways “TMA” provides seaplane transfers from the TMA Terminal at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport “MLE” to others island in Maldives. Visitors who want to visit Veligandu Island Beach can transfer by seaplane, a 20 minute from the Hulhule International Airport.
