I dont know how I havent written a review about this place yet, since it is my favoritest place in the whole wide far, at least :) Its fairly close to the Osaka Train station; maybe about a 10 minute walk if you take the underground tunnel. However, since I was on my own and had never been I had taken a cab. I had gone around 9:30p...and Im sooo glad I did. It was easy to follow the instructions to where i needed to go. You need to take an elevator to a certain floor (I forgot which one, but the signs will tell you where :)); there, youll see an area where you can purchase tickets to go up to the observatory. I believe the ticket was around 700 yen (which is very much worth it!) Then youll take go up an escalator, that isn't in the building. Really. the middle of the escalator goes through the circular middle part of the building and its really cool since its lit up. It seems like youre going into outer space! ^__^ it just makes the suspense for the view even better. Youll get up to an area where youll be able to walk around and look out of the big windows. There are a bunch of cute little seats, which are perfect for couples out on a date. Theres also a little bar so that you can have a drink while enjoying the view! To go up to the very top (the actual floating garden), you take a small elevator that goes up really quickly 0.0 Then when you step out...its like youre walking on stars! ^_____^ It was the most beautiful sight! You get a 360 view of Osaka's twinkling building lights, as well as the glowing rocks on the ground. It was one of the prettiest things Ive ever seen...which is why i highly recommend going at night because you wont be able to see the rocks on the ground glow from the black light, during the day. Now for you love birds, there is also a little place that you can pay a fee to go down with your loved one and place a lock on the fence. It has two seats for you two to sit down on while the place goes off with some lights :) I believe that there are only certain times that you can do this ( I took a picture of the info and place). Anybody that is visiting Osaka really needs to visit the floating garden .Or everyone just needs to visit this place at least once in their life! Its truly life changing. BTW, just a warning! It does get awfully windy up there so be sure to hold onto any hats and bring a jacket during the cold seasons!

You can take really cool time lapses going up and down the elevators/escalators. It has a great 360 view of Osaka, and there are art exhibits at the top. There's a cute heart booth for couples.

This was the last place on our Osaka day visit (from Kyoto using JR pass). We had purchased one day Amazing Osaka Pass in Kyoto and could use the pass for subway from Shin Osaka. Sky Building observatory is poorly signposted from Umeda subway station and involves fair bit of walking. We had to ask twice for directions and finally one helpful Japanese young man walked us to the underpass. The building is in front of you as soon as you are out of the underpass. Once you reach the building you will again struggle to find the entrance and ticket counter (the information centre closes at 5 pm and the place is open till 10.30 pm). This is because entrance is on 39 th floor! The lift ride was very quick and height display was impressive as the lift got to 39 th floor. There is no garden and nothing was floating! There are two observation levels. Lower one is covered and provides sitting with a small coffee shop (surprisingly not expensive). The top most level is open to the sky and we got there just before 7 pm. The views were stunning and even though sun was not visible due to clouds, the colourful skyline, river and bridges were beautiful and offered several photo opportunities. This got better in the dark. There are two spots where provision is made to place your camera/phone and take a picture using self timer. Very thoughtful. A must visit spot in Osaka and try to reach half an hour before sunset. Use Osaka Pass.
