Umberto's Cuisine

Went to this place twice last week when visiting my daughter in Thailand...I had been in Rome the week before for Easter...my partner is Italian and I feel I know something about the food.To come to the point the food here was very special indeed...I always need some convincing to do Italian restaurants outside Italy and London but this restaurant was recommended so we gave it a go and then went back two nights later,our last night.My favourite Italian is spaghetti al granchio (that's crab if you don't know) and the dish at Umberto's was just about the best I have tasted...this may sound rather over the top but it was fantastic and yes I had it again on the second visit.My daughter had salmon with salad both times and we had starters of tuna salad both times...perhaps an unusual starter in an Italian but again exceptional for taste,freshness and size.The fish was cooked to perfection and the pasta absolutely spot on,al dente to a tee. We raved about the food! The taste of the crab spaghetti was amazing...I regularly have this dish in a good restaurant in the City of London and I am worried what I will have to tell them next week! The service was excellent and I imagine this comes down from the owner/ chef himself who is an Italian from Piedmont called......Umberto! We met the guy and he speaks perfect English. What more can I say but go there! ( if this is only the tenth best restaurant in Ao Nang the first nine must be out of this world.)
