Why Ugong Rock is special ?
Ugong Rock is community-based sustainable tourism project initiated by ABS-CBN Foundation-Bantay Kalikasan in partnership with the City of Puerto Princesa and the Department of Tourism with the support of Pasyar-PNNI, PCC, City Tourism Council, Barangay Council and IDEAS. It is managed by the Tagabinet Community Tourism Association, Inc.
Ugong Rock is a Seventy five-foot limestone formation in the midst of farmlands and karst forests or forests growing on limestone substrate in Barangay Tagabinet. A place once sleepy community of indigenous peoples. The word “ugong” stands for the reverberating sound (similar to a bell) that stalactites produce inside the cavernous structures of Ugong Rock when hit or pounded with the knuckles or the palm.

What to explore at Ugong Rock?
Ugong Rock is a 71 meters high limestone outcrop with a summit view deck and zip line. Climbing up, visitors weave through tunnels/caves and crevices. The view deck provides a breath taking 360 degree view of the forests and karst formations. Going down is a fun ride through the zip line, the first in Palawan.
For those who are not athletic enough or the heavier ones, the tour guides are ready to make the push necessary to hurdle this challenging ascent towards the top of Ugong Rock. The tour consists of an hour or less journey through narrow cracks and caverns, squeezing through narrow holes climbing up ladders and crevices that will barely allow chubby, plump persons to go through. About midway, tourists need to clamber upwards a steep incline with the aid of two lines of rope.

The place is known for zip line and trekking. It's a small place but worth for resting.Free toilet. Souvenir shop available.
Stopped here on the way to the underground river. Paid 200 peso to go into the cave and went spelunking. They also have 2 types of zip lines you can do to get down faster. One is a 21 sec sit style zip line and the other is about a 30 sec superman style zip line. We opted to just go back down the cave instead. Haha but quite a few ppl did the zip line! Overall I enjoyed the spelunking! Wear shoes, I was wearing flip flops so it was a little hard but doable!
This is a community based tourism and the fees collected go the the community operating the attraction. That is the reason for the senior citizens ground staff. It was a great experience going in and up the Ugong Rock cave. There were many guides inside so you wont get lost. There is a zipline for short cut going down or go down the way you went up (not really).
