Why Suria KLCC Mall is special ?

Suria KLCC shopping centre is an imposing six-storey building at the foot of the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur city centre. Created in 1999, it was soon the talk of the town because it introduced a new level of style to the city with its wide array of haute couture stores.
Likened to Manhattan’s Barney’s and Saks Fifth Avenue, the mall is popular not only for its right-on-the-money location and upscale stores, but also because it has tourist attractions such as Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains, an oceanarium and science discovery centre respectively, targeted at kids. Besides that, the mall is home to the Dewan Filharmonik Orkestra (Malaysia’s first concert hall) and the Petronas Art Gallery

Suria KLCC features little touches reminiscent of classic European malls, including plenty of greenery, white geometric-patterned marble floors, with exposed glass panels that let in natural light. Whilst some stores have high ceilings and huge arches along with impressive columns, others have low ceilings and no arches but plenty of their own stylish charm.

Suria KLCC is divided into three sections: Ampang Mall, Park Mall and the new Ramlee Mall.

What to explore at Suria KLCC Mall?

The Concourse Level is where you will find banks, local restaurants, fast food chains and supermarkets: the Ground and First Floors house a variety of high end designer stores, while the Second Floor has an array of local boutiques. The Third Floor has stores that target a teenage demographic and the Fourth Floor has a variety of restaurants for those who do not want to hit the food courts.

At the end of the south side of Suria KLCC is the newest extension to the mall, Ramlee Mall, where you can find 30 high-end specialty stores such as Bvalgari, Cartier, Chanel, Cole Haan, Tiffany & Co. and Versace.

A bridge on the Concourse Level leads to Aquaria KLCC and Traders Hotel, while a connection at the other end links the mall to the KLCC LRT station.

Outside Suria KLCC is just as interesting as its interior – buskers set up shop with their guitars, harmonicas and tambourines: people sit on the steps eating street food, school kids gather for excursions to the Petronas Twin Towers and backpackers smile for the cameras.

How to get to Suria KLCC Mall?

Walk from Bukit Bintang to Suria KLCC

It is easy to walk from Bukit Bintang to Suria KLCC. From the Bukit Bintang monorail station in front of Lot10 you just walk towards Pavilion KL. If you reach the main entrance (where the fountain is located) you keep to the left into 'The Connection' where you can find numerous restaurants and bars (which is part of Pavilion KL). At the end of this food lane you will see the sky bridge that crosses the busy Jalan Raja Chulan. Cross the road by the sky bridge and continue to walk straight until you see the main entrance of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center to the left. Enter this building by taking the small elevator down to Aquarium KLCC. From here you can follow the signs all the way to Suria KLCC. You will enter the mall from the lower ground floor. You can also walk outside via KLCC Park. In that case you need to take the stairs when you reach the small food court of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. All in all it is a 5/10 minute walk between the two very popular malls.

Suria KLCC is easily accessible by bus, taxi, subway or for some even on foot, depending on the location of the hotel. When you travel by subway, you need to get off at Suria KLCC (if you use the Kelana Jaya line). You can also take the monorail to Bukit Nanas station and walk to Suria KLCC from there (10mins). Keep in mind that you sometimes might need to wait quite long for a taxi around closing time (10.00pm) because everyone takes a taxi at that time. Opening hours: Suria KLCC is opened daily from 10am to 10pm. The shops at the Esplanade (along the park) stay open until midnight.

Excellent shopping mall with outlets of all famous brands. Plenty of local food available especially on Top floor. In evening sitting along Musical fountains is excellent.

This mall has a good mix of high and low end stores. We went on a Sunday morning and it was pretty busy. There's a nice gallery on the fifth floor sponsored by Petrosains which had some nice local art (free admission) and there are some great deals to be had in the stores if it's sale time. One hint - there are premier pay toliets on the 2nd floor (I think it's the second) by salvador ferragamo. It's only 2 ringitt to go and apparently well worth it. Both my husband and I opted to use them after he visited the free ones (and quickly came out!).
