People who don't stay at the Intercontinental Hotel, Westlake, often never hear about the Sunset Bar. Without doubt it is the classiest bar in all of Hanoi. The service is sublime, the drinks well mixed, the range of 'bar food' is delicious and the location unparalleled in the city. The bar itself is perched on the edge of the lake at the rear of the hotel grounds. It's a lovely walk along the boardwalks to get to the bar and on a pleasant evening the stroll there helps build the ambiance of the experience. Sunset Bar is supremely comfortable, with a range of couches and large seating both undercover (in case of rain) and right on the edge of the lake itself. They have an extensive cocktail list, a wide range of wines (with regular specials) and numerous other drink options bound to satisfy almost everyone. For me, Sunset Bar is the best of the best bars in Hanoi. It's a place for special occasions to enjoy a classy evening of luxury. It's most definitely not an every day bar, but from time-to-time, it's well worth it. For travelers staying in different places, do yourself a favour on a balmy evening, grab a taxi to the Intercontinental Westlake and indulge in an evening of refinement and romance. A great way to round out a Hanoi experience.

Amazing view from the sunset bar. A very relaxing place to chill. Felt like I was somewhere on an island at Maldives. If you are looking for something away from the chaos in Hanoi, this is the place.
