Why Sumida Park is special ?

The area between Azumabashi Bridge and Sakurabashi Bridge on the Sumida River has been a famous cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period. Approximately 1,000 cherry trees grow in Sumida Park. Visitors can enjoy viewing the lines of blooming trees on both sides of the Sumida River from a yakata-bune (Japanese old-fashioned houseboat). Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of cherry blossom viewing along the Sumida River.

What to explore at Sumida Park?

Flanking both sides of the Sumida River, this park offers a welcoming retreat after you've worn yourself out sightseeing in nearby Asakusa. Spring is the best time to visit, when more than 1,000 sakura trees lining both banks burst into bloom, although people visiting later in the year haven't missed out on all the excitement – the last weekend in July brings an enormous fireworks display. There are also plenty of attractions nearby, including shopping streets, Asakusa Shrine and Sensoji Temple.

How to get to Sumida Park?

This is a nice place to go with small children. They can run around and go to the playground inside the park.
