Why Sugar Bar + Deck + Lounge is special ?
Sugar is sleek and modern combination of lounge / bar / deck located on the 32nd floor rooftop of the stylish EAST, Hong Kong, a modern lifestyle business hotel owned and operated by Swire Hotels. First opened in 2010, Sugar is a popular vantage spot for enjoying sunset and evening drinks against the backdrop of the breathtaking views of Hong Kong’s dramatic sky line and beautiful harbour. Situated in the booming new Island East business centre in the Tai Koo district of Hong Kong Island, about 15 minutes from Central, EAST and Sugar provide a refreshingly different perspective from the typical views seen at the majority of Hong Kong’s rooftop bars, mostly clustered around Central and Tsim Sha Tsui.

Tips for you
Great rooftop bar offering very nice views of Hong Kong's skyline. We were welcomed by a friendly usherette and given the choice between sitting inside our outside, of which we opted for the latter. Lots of drinks in the menu plus few choices of food. The waiter was very helpful, service was fast and smooth. Free salty popcorn is served in a small tray, and whenever the tray was about to be emptied, the waiter promptly served a new filled tray of popcorn. Both of us ordered a Sunday roast which includes a dessert. When we had almost finished the roast, the waiter courteously told us we could decide when we wanted to have the dessert served. Roast and dessert tasted fantastic. Dishes and drinks in my view were less expensive than at similar venues located closer to Central (but this is fair considering that the views around Central are slightly more impressive than around the Taikoo area). Later when we dropped a knife, the waiter heard a sound and rushed to our table within 5 seconds --- very attentive and responsive!
The nicest part of the bar is the amazing view on Kowloon side. The prices are fair, it is a bit pretentious. The experience was ok, a bit pricy. I was really disappointed when I saw that the nuts are replaced when the bowl is only half empty. I noticed they trash the half left. I found it very disgraceful to waste so much food and not caring at all that it is still good food. I think it goes with the theme of the bar which is over-pretentious. I have been, was ok but don't think wanna go their again.
Was pleasantly surprised when my friend brought me to this rooftop bar. Love the open concept and the staff were very friendly but professional. The crowd seemed to be from the neighborhood but everyone had their own space to hang out. Excellent seating arrangements.I fell in love in their food choices! Since I skipped dinner earlier, I ordered a pizza, fried prawns, mini burgers and chix wings, and crossed my fingers that i won't be ripped off with tiny bar portions. However, the portions presented were amazingly generous and food was very yummy.I'll definately go back when I pop by HK again. Such a gem to find a downtown grade rooftop bar in the suburbs.
Was very suprised by the ambience of the place, love it. The view was beautiful at night; staffs were really friendly and helpful. It was cuban night when we visited, got to try a few cigars and their specialty drinks. The price was not expensive and I would recommend it for couples and friends to spend a nice night together.
