Why Starhill Gallery is special ?

Starhill Gallery is one of those ritzy shopping malls where you are almost afraid to touch things. Ambient lighting, soft jazz music playing in the background and carpeted floors that mask any sound your feet might make, results in this being a red carpet retail experience like no other.
The hushed atmosphere is exacerbated by smiling, smartly dressed doormen waiting to usher you into stores: coupled with the muted atmosphere, their ever-present presence makes you feel like you have to speak in whispers. You may ask, since Starhill Gallery offers the same haute couture stores all under one roof, as Pavilion KL, what makes it so different? Well, the answer to that is simple – Starhill Gallery is an experience, and a decadent one at that.
Developed by the YTL Corporation, Starhill Gallery is the most upscale, luxury retail mall in the prominent Bukit Bintang district. Opened in 1996, it houses more than 100 renowned luxury timepiece and jewellery brands and dozens of other contemporary luxury labels.

What to explore at Starhill Gallery?

The main concourse is a spacious open-concept area which plays host to a stage as well as exclusive cafés that surround it. The seven-storey shopping centre has escalators in this area and elevators are located at the back section of the mall beside the well-kept bathrooms.
The first floor of the mall is largely occupied by jewellery and luxury watch brands such as Maurice Lacroix, M Missoni, Korloff, Davidoff, Rado and more; each year Starhill Gallery plays host to Asia’s largest luxury watch and jewellery showcase.
Alternatively, if you’re looking to relax and unwind in the middle of the day, then the third floor of the mall is home to a 50,000sqft spa and relaxation centre (known as the Pamper Zone) – this area has 93 treatment rooms and includes services by some of the best therapists in KL.
Lower ground floor of the plays host to the expansive Feast Village – a food court that really isn’t your average eatery; the ultra posh food quad plays host to a dozen award-winning restaurants that sport trendy design and fashionable themes.
Starhill Gallery sits directly adjacent to Pavilion KL and is connected to the five-star JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur hotel. Cosmetics behemoth Sephora is located beside it and just down the road is the sister venture of Pavilion KL, the newly-opened Fahrenheit 88.

How to get to Starhill Gallery?

Starhill is located at the end of the Bintang Walk (181 Jalan Bukit Bintang), in the center of Kuala Lumpur, the mall is connected to the JW Marriott hotel. Nearby popular malls are Pavilion KL (directly opposite) and Fahrenheit88 (next door neighbor). Bukit Bintang monorail station (next to Lot10) is within 5 minute walking distance.

Tips for you

  • It's a high-end shopping mall. Not the place to visit if you are not prepared to pay high prices.
  • There are no mid range brands there and restaurants are fine dining.
  • If you are staying at either the luxurious JW Marriott Hotel or the Ritz-Carlton Hotel you can enter the mall directly.
    Things nearby
  • It's a beautiful place to roam around and take in the architecture and sit leisurely while having tea at one of the restaurants.
    Things to do
  • Right across the street from the Pavillion Mall is Star Hill gallery with a choice of excellent restaurants and live music.

Walked through yesterday and it is lovely and peaceful but we literally were the only people walking around the mall. Lots of very high end brands and more guards and staff than people. The core part is a beautiful multi-levelled atrium but I felt like I was in a strange Terry Gilliam movie. So lovely place and work a visit just for the experience.

STS is a really nice place for a perfect tea time. The scones are nice as well as everything else they offer. The best part is the sitting area together with the ambiance. An admirable place to read in style. The service is laudable too.Nonetheless there is one bad thing, I have to say. Generally people tend to order churros at STS which aren't good. STS orders from it from a small shop located outside the gallery. If you want to have churros then this place isn't recommended. Since, they have started displaying churros advertisement on the table as a signature. So, choose a tea package instead. Specially the one from 3 to 6 pm.

Starhill Gallery is a high end mall in KL with its amazing and perfect interior and exterior design and decor. Really beautiful, just like a masterpiece. It connects JW Marriot Hotel and Ritz Carlton Hotel, and it is in front of Pavilion Mall. Every time I go there, I always enjoy it and I'm never bored to admire the beauty of the place. Inside the building is very quiet, but it's normal for a high end place. The best thing and what I like about this place is that people can get high privacy, and the staffs/other people there are not nosy. They are polite and nice. The place and its atmosphere even can release people's stress. Calm, peaceful and so beautiful. In some occasions, Starhill Gallery gives big voucher for free to the visitors to shop in some of the boutiques or get beauty treatments. I also remember that the bank located there (CIMB), besides still opening on Saturday and Sunday, they are even open on New Year's Day. What excellent service they give to the customers! They are also nice. Starhill Gallery is one of my favorite places in KL. This place is really an asset for KL. A very beautiful place one cannot forget.

This place is heavily secured with shotgun brandished guards. Robbers, don't even think of attempting to make your move here :-P
