Why Shinkyo is special ?
The Shinkyo bridge is ranked as one of Japan's three finest bridges together with Iwakuni's Kintaikyo and Saruhashi in Yamanashi Prefecture.
The current Shinkyo was constructed in 1636, but a bridge of some kind had marked the same spot for much longer, although its exact origins are unclear. Until 1973, Shinkyo was off limit to the general public. It underwent extensive renovation works in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and visitors can now walk across the bridge and back for an entrance fee.

What to explore at Shinkyo?
The Shinkyo has long been considered one of the most beautiful structures in Japan, its simple elegance contrasting with the wildness of the river gorge, the green hills, and the tumbling waters.
From here, a road leads into the park, threading through 16,000 towering cedar trees.

Reviews
The bridge is within easy access of the KANAYA hotel. It is very small. But so pretty. In particular the autumn leaves, there, are extremely beautiful. The red bridge, a color of the water and sun. We found a big ring(hoop) at the gate. We tried walking through a center of a hoop and both side. We didn't know but it was some kind of ceremonies. We found a special stone. Let's stroke the stone. And we cross the small bridge. Good view! And we returned. You cannot go to the opposite bank across the bridge
