Why Shifen Waterfall is special ?
Shifen Waterfall (Chinese: 十分大瀑布; pinyin: Shífēn Dà Pùbù) is a scenic waterfall located in Pingxi District, New Taipei City, Taiwan, on the upper reaches of the Keelung River. The falls' total height is 20 metres (66 ft) and 40 metres (130 ft) in width, making it the broadest waterfall in Taiwan. It is a cascade waterfall in which the water flows in one direction and the rock is sloped in the opposite.
Because of its horseshoe shape and powerful flow, it is nicknamed the Little Niagara of Taiwan. Recessed within a beautiful forested mountainside setting, this waterfall often delights visitors with a bright rainbow on sunny days. This colorful spectacle has also lent the waterfall its other nickname “Rainbow Pond”.

Tips for you
Very great.the water will spread to your face ! There is always appears rainbow, good place to take photo and enjoy view.
t's like a 1 km walk before we get to see the waterfall. We went on a hot summer day in July, and it's too hot and the waterfall is not anything spectacular as what we read from some review. I went with 3 kids and it's not easy and really too hot. After a 1km walk with lots of stairs, we arrived at the observation spot and saw the waterfall. There's literally nothing there, and we basically just stayed 5 minutes, took a couple pictures and walked back Not recommend for people with young kids, and definitely not on a summer day. But I am sure it's a good walk in autumn with a nice breeze.
Shifen waterfall is not far from Shifen old street. Visiting waterfall before old street is recommended as you want food and drink after hiking. You won't expect too much on food from waterfall won't you? There is a nice bridge. It feels shaky but don't get panic, it is safe. It only takes about 10 mins walk to Shifen waterfall. Recommended a 50mm or wider lens for photography. Nice to have a tripod but not a must. Place camera on fence and you will just fine to capture water motion for an 0.5 to 1 sec exposure shot.
