Why Sao Beach is special ?

Sao Beach is the most beautiful beach on Phu Quoc in the eyes of many tourists. Picture a long stretch of pure white sand with likely not a single other soul around. The water is as transparent as glass. You could imagine you are at the ends of the Earth, and in a way you are. Bai Sao means "Star Beach" in Vietnamese, and the name is an apt one, this is the star beach of Phu Quoc Island

There are no watersports, no beach hawkers, no noisy beach bars – just a few deckchairs and seemingly endless white sand lapped by warm blue water that remains shallow for a long, long way out, making it great for kids too. Nothing to do but pull up a chair, order some fresh seafood & cold beer, and enjoy the view while topping up your suntan.

What to explore at Sao Beach?

Sao is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Sao Beach, with its arcing palm trees, snow-white sand and distinctive blue-sapphire coloured water, has been increasingly developed over the last few years. There are some restaurants, bars, resorts, and water-sports on offer here. It can get reasonably crowded on sunny days during peak months (December to March), but this still doesn’t detract from the exotic beauty of this beach, particularly the vibrant colours of the sand, water, sky and foliage here.

How to get to Sao Beach?

Getting to Phu Quoc is as simple or as complicated as you want to make it – you can fly direct from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi or Can Tho, or you can travel overland through the Mekong Delta via Can Tho and take a boat from either Rach Gia or Ha Tien.

Walk yourself out of the crowd, to avoid noise and dirt. Find a spot and enjoy the beach. White sand and calm waves. You can actually see small fish in the water very clearly. Restaurants are available, but a bit over-priced. Don't go for fishing tour! Does not worth the time and money. And beware the road to Sao beach, very very bumpy! About 2km long. Visited August 2015

What a place... A sterech of white sands before a sea of crystal Aqua! You just can't describe how idilic this place is. There are only a few bars / hotels along it. We were visiting from the other side of the island, on Christmas Day, and there was hardly anyone around. But the few places there were served beers and cocktails, and you could rent a lounger and parasol cheaply. Well worth a visit!!
