Why Sanrio Puroland is special ?
Sanrio Puroland is an indoor theme park located in Tama New Town, Tokyo, Japan that attracts over 1.5 million visitors per year. It is the second theme park in Japan featuring characters, following Disneyland. Opened on December 7, 1990, the theme park is run by the Sanrio company, and hosts various musicals, restaurants, attractions, and theme rides using popular characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, Cinnamoroll, Jewelpet and many more.
As it is an all-weather park, there is no need for an umbrella even if it rains. It keeps the temperature comfortable throughout the year so that even families with small children can spend time without any concern.

Tips for you
truly enjoy every aspect of this theme park. The stage show and parade are enjoyable. The boat ride is a must for all those who love Hello Kitty and her friends...
I've been wanting to visit for years and I finally made my dream come true! It was perfect! I totally enjoyed myself. I was raving like a teenager!! Of course, if you are an amusement park thrill seeker, and thinking Six Flags or Universal Studios, you better head elsewhere. This is true blue Sanrio fans only. The rides are kiddish. The decor totally cartoon. And the souvenirs, absolutely cute!! Fans of sanrio will LOVE it! Non-fans, I think you better stay outside and shop at the MITSUKOSHI down the lane. Absolutely loved the characters parade. The music was so sing-along and fun. The dance was addictive. Kids were overjoyed and so was I!! It's definitely a happy place for Sanrio lovers. Be prepared to fork out tons of money. They charge JPY1000 upwards for photos with characters. You can't use your own cameras (if it's an individual shot). Souvenirs are plenty, from food to kitchenware and clothes! Many limited edition things to buy. So beware! Lock up your money if you are worried! I had super fun there! I would go again sometime :-) they have yearly changes of main popular character displays so check out for them! Many signs in English and Japanese so it's easy to understand. You can stay over night in TAMA (that's what I did) or just make a day trip in from Tokyo. It's not very far. Possibly about 1.5-2 hours. It's 1.5 hrs from Haneda airport with direct service by limousine bus at affordable price JPY1540 one way :-)
