Why Quan Thiet 168 is special ?
Quan Thiet 168, a few blocks from the tourist strip, is a small local restaurant with tasty food and fresh Da Lat vegetables. The mango salad with crispy fried fish and grilled chicken wings with salt and chillies are winners. Dishes are 40,000 to 70,000 VND, while a steamboat is 100,000 VND. If you want to try a popular local dish, have bitter melon soup, which is supposedly good for your health. Note: it’s bitter! As is common with many small local restaurants, you’ll find mostly men here gathering to eat, drink beer and smoke. It’s nothing to be intimidated about, but if that’s not your cup of tea, then skip it.

Reviews
My wife and I are at present on our third visit to Da Lat in 12 months. On our first visit, we discovered a nice little restaurant called Thiet 168. As newcomers to Vietnamese cuisine we had a little trouble ordering but both the owner and menu were very helpful; the food was delicious! Since then, we have eaten there at least 10 times. For our anniversary dinner a couple of nights ago we ordered the grilled duck with steamed Da Lat vegetables and water spinach sauteed in garlic. We left with our stomachs full and big smiles on our faces. The meal, with beer, cost us less than $12.00. The only caveat I offer, is that the restaurant attracts large groups who love to drink so the ambiance can be a tad loud at times.
Excellent food, tempted by the review below I ordered mango salad with crispy fish - amazing contrast of texture and flavours. Spring roles, we did t have them as good for a while now, wild bore with chilli worth trying. My corn sauted shrimps were ok but you can skip them. All comes with little sauces, and before we ordered we got fried rice paper with black sesame seeds, which was delicious but we assumed it was free. However at the paying point we realised it cost us 10000 vnd, which is very cheap of course however as a matter of principles that should be make clear at the start.
