Why Picasso is special ?

It's elegant and arty, sophisticated yet informal. Contemporary in design but with classic touches. Everything, in fact, that made the man it's named after the unique artist extraordinaire that he was. Introducing the chic restaurant with the famous name – Picasso.

This restaurant was a great find on Samui. A cosy and ambient atmosphere with a masterful menu of delectable dishes. The staff were also very service orientated and attentive. The high level and the presentation of the cuisine certainly made for a excellent value dining experience.

And you can choose to sit at one of two tables outside under the covered terrace (where smoking is allowed) or in the smart interior where there's seating for a further 20 diners.T

Must try dishes:

he Venison the Duck

The Red Snapper

Osso bucco bourguignon

Beef stroganoff tenderloin

The previous tenants of this restaurant premises, the very excellent Barracuda have moved to The Wharf, so, also knowing the owner of this new restaurant, we thought we should give it a try and see how it is living up to it's advertised claim of being, "number one on TripAdvisor". It turned out to be a very pleasant meal generally. There were two other tables occupied so the staff were very attentive and the meal was prompt. Firstly, were given a tasty, truffle amuse bouche which was very welcome and then I had a good tenderloin salad. The main course for me was a lamb tenderloin with pummeled tomatoes and rice which was tasty and satisfying. Not eating deserts, we ordered cocktails to finish. I have to agree with one of the other reviewers that the Irish coffee is very good indeed. However, I also have to agree that there are some points that could be improved upon. Simple things that one would expect at a restaurant that purports to be #1 on TripAdvisor (actually, #1 of 71 in Maenam village). For example, in most restaurants, still water would be provided when a bottle of red wine has been ordered. I don't think that is too much to expect. Also, I would have liked to have had the empty cocktail glasses cleared off the table before the meal, not after and clean, food served on non-greasy plates would be a nice touch. I write this at the risk of receiving the same sort of vitriolic abuse from the owner that the guest/customer on the 8th of Feb 2015 and others have received on this forum. Maybe, constructive criticism, given with the best intentions, will be better received from someone that the owner is likely to meet again on the street. Maybe not. In all, the meal was good and the atmosphere was nice and with the staff running it on a daily basis I expect it will do well in Maenam village.
