Why Phnom Chhngok Cave Temple is special ?
It is a temple inside the cave that was constructed in 18th century and is also a place of worship of Cambodian. It is a set of caves harbouring some ancient temples and an opportunity to clamber about on the dark, wet rocks inside. The land around Kampot is very fertile and they farm many types of food from rice to peanuts, and pepper to sea salt.
What to explore at Phnom Chhngok Cave Temple?
You will discover beauty and architect of old temple together with mystery of the cave. Climbing up the cave is an excited experience and you will see beautiful surroundings.
How to get to Phnom Chhngok Cave Temple?
None of the directions I got, including those in Lonely Planet, were of any use. There is no sign on the main road (33) pointing the way -- look for a dirt road on the left soon after you cross the bridge with a sign pointing to "Climbodia." Even if you make this turnoff, you will still get lost, because it's not a straight shot, as the guidebooks lead you to believe. You will have to turn to the left several times, and, much later, back to the right. What will help -- learning to pronounce "Phnom Ch'nork" so you can ask, and realizing that the entrance to the cave is in the middle of the long solitary mountain you will see in the distance as you near it, No signs there, or anywhere.

Tips for you
Not to be forgotten due to the climb up inside the cave .. You can go up the stairs but we choose to see the rock formations inside .. I did it with help but for someone who is scared of heights it was an experience not to be forgotten . A large offering at the temple when I got to the top. The temple is worth the climb
