If you are lucky, you can be greeted by the owner, a nice and friendly lady. Nice place with decent food.
Try to get a table on a separate hut in order to have a better view. As for food, their shrimp rolls are delicious and their sticky rice is a must try.
On day 2, after a spending all morning and part of the afternoon in the Mekong Delta, we stopped off at this restaurant for a pre-arranged late lunch. When I originally booked our itinerary with our tour company, listed on the itinerary was the Mekong Rest Stop restaurant. I had assumed it was a generic name for a roadside diner. I couldn’t be more wrong! See photos. When we arrived in the afternoon, the first thing I noticed at the entrance to the restaurant was a banner welcoming the Azamara Journey guests; no doubt the cruise ship tour came here for lunch. There is a main open air restaurant that I’ve been told seats 200 people. Our small group of 10 was seated in a section detached from the main restaurant. This section also had no walls but had a roof.Pre-ordered set menu included the following:1. Fried vegetable spring roll2. Young salad body with vegetables3. Mekong pancake stuffed with vegetables4. Fried ball sticky rice5. Crispy fried “elephant ear” fish6. Fried pumpkin flower with fish (battered and deep fried squash? blossoms)7. Vegetable noodle soup8. Mekong fried rice9. Tropical mixed fruitFew of us ordered the coconut ice cream which was very tasty. There was a “show” to cut up the fried sticky rice ball – maybe the circumference of a basketball. As the name says, it is a sticky rice ball inflated with hot air through expansion from frying.I can’t break down the costs of the lunch as it was part of the tour cost.My only other experiences with Vietnamese food were on a day 1 lunch at Pho 2000 in Ho Chi Minh city and a ship hosted dinner at Binh Quoi Village the same night. My evaluation of the food is based on this particular food experience and comparing it to the Binh Quoi Village dinner.• Food quality/taste: 3+ out of 5 – good, nothing to complain about.• Portion size: 3 out of 5 – there was enough to eat.• Service: 3 out of 5; no complaints. If you’re in the area, I would recommend coming here to eat.My overall rating of the food, atmosphere and the food experience is somewhere around 3.5 out of 5.Notes & Tips• The washroom was clean• Check out the nicely landscaped grounds• One website states that this restaurant is a favourite stop for tour groups.
This was a pre arranged stop for lunch by our guide. As the food was pre ordered, it came out fairly quickly & was pretty good. Great location & ambiance.
the name some how conjures up a vision of toilets on a highway.in fact it is a nicely set up restaurant spread over a large area.dont go looking for toilet, the way to toilet is thru the cleaning area of kitchen and may not inspire confidence.ambiance is excellent surrounded by greens, water body with lillies, trees and flowering shrubs.the service is efficient, prompt, food quite good, serving sizes adequate.the hostesses are helpful, polite and knowledgeable about dishes(if one can explain them what one is talking about-some can speak understandable english).overall recommended.
