Why Mekong Quilts is special ?
ekong Quilts was founded in 2001 as an income generation project under the umbrella of parent NGO, Mekong Plus.
Mekong Quilts employs women in communities northeast of Ho Chi Minh City (Duc Linh, Tanh Linh and Ham Thuan Nam in Binh Thuan Province) and Long My in the Mekong Delta. Mekong Quilts also offers employment opportunities to Cambodian women through Mekong Quilts, a similar project located in the village of Rumdoul, near the Vietnam / Cambodia border.
Quilting is perfect as an employment activity, as it requires a small investment to begin with and is labour intensive. Thanh Truong, a Vietnamese dentist in HCMC recognised these qualities and through her passion for quilts, began the programme with just 35 women.

Reviews
My husband & I visited Mekong Quilts while in Siem Reap & are we happy we did. Fortunately we had an idea what we were looking for otherwise we could still be there as there is a wide choice all beautifully hand quilted by very talented women. There are not only quilts but bags, children's soft toys, pillow covers & much more. The ladies in the shop are very helpful, willing to bring out anything you enquire about, however absolutely no pressure to buy. The important part of shopping at Mekong Quilts is that you are helping to support women from villages who have no other means of support for themselves and their families. Give yourself a treat !
