Why Lugu Lake is special ?
The lake is in the shape of a horse's hoof. On the lake there are five islands. They are different sizes and are like green boats floating on the water. One of the especial things is House of Mosuo people by Lugu Lake. Mystery and charm surround the lake, partly because it was once an unspoiled place and still retains much of its totally natural beauty. The lake is encircled with hills. The water is clean and inviting, with fish swimming in it. The forest around is dense and the air is fresh.

What to explore at Lugu Lake?
You may do your own tracking or rent a mountain bicycle or motorcycle for a day to explore the wonders of Lugu Lake and beautiful sceneries or head on to the lake and pay 20 RMB for a boat ride. They usually sings while rowing the boat and tell you stories and history about Lugu. The lake water is drinkable as we tried it and it’s honestly fresh and cold. Or just walk along the lake and sit on the bench with some local snacks "dried Apples or fresh peanut noodles" to enjoy the breeze and the quietness of nature. There are many restaurants that serve huge BBQ pork and it’s done freshly every day.

How to get to Lugu Lake?
From Lijiang you will have some ways to get there:
1) Transport Service Center Bus Station to Daluoshui Village:
Departure Time: 09:00, 10:00.
Ticket Price: CNY 65
Duration: around 7 hours
2) Take tourist bus arranged by local travel agencies:
Departure Time: unfixed
Ticket Price: CNY 140 to 200 for a round-trip
Duration: around 7 hours
Notice:
1). Departure time is changeable. Usually, the bus driver informs the tourists of departure time and pick-up location in advance.
2). Most hostels help their guests to book the bus tickets. Visitors can ask the hostel owners if they provide this service. The reservation should be made one day in advance.
3). Visitors who take tourist bus might be arranged to go shopping, visit a Mosuo family, go boating or take part in a bonfire party. Undoubtedly, they need to pay extra money for these activities.

LuGu Lake is one of my favorite places in China. It wasn't planned in my 2-months trip in China but I have been advised by a Chinese friend met in Chengdu to go there. And I have any regret at all! We stayed only one day and a half there. The first day we visited LuGu village and his bridge after checked-in in our hostel. The second day, we rode with our bicycles all around the lake: it was awesome! Very sportive but it is worth it. I think it is the best way to visit LuGu because you can stop every time you want, you feel doing something healthy and you really enjoy landscapes. By bike, it takes around 6 hours. When arriving at the hostel, we decided to enjoy our short stay: we walked to a kind of pagoda (sorry, I can't remember the name...) giving a very nice view on the lake and where you can see sunset. So the long road to go there definitely worth it! This place is not crowded and still preserved for the moment. You feel in peace with yourself. I RECOMMEND IT!
