Why La Santa Maria is special ?
Santa Maria is one of the most exciting trips you can take in Osaka. It is a replica of the sailing ship in which Columbus discovered America (although the replica is twice the size of the original). The Santa Maria departs for a complete tour of Osaka Bay from Osaka Aquarium ”Kaiyukan” at Tempozan Harbor Village. From its deck you can see the bay in its entirety, with the wind on your face. The day cruise lasts 50 minutes, the night cruise 105 minutes.
What to explore at La Santa Maria?
It is just 5-min walk from Tempozan Ferris Wheel to the pier where you can enjoy another 45 min ride. Boarding, you will enjoy a very relaxing time with this wooden boat, named after the great Christopher Columbus ship. There are few different areas in the ship, one is a semi-outdoor area when you board the ship. This is also smoking area, the 2nd one is the outdoor deck where you can feel the breeze of the wind and take pictures. 3rd one is the restaurant and bar cabin. 3rd one is the theatre area where you can read and study about the history of sailing, including from the great Vasco da Gama. And the last one is indoor area. Great in every weather conditions too.
