Why Knutsford Terrace is special ?

On the south slope of Observatory Hill, it is hidden behind the buildings of Kimberley Road. The street is strictly for pedestrians. Instead of vehicles, it is full of tables and chairs for the restaurants and many tourists hang out at night.

There is road access to the terrace near Miramar Shopping Centre and further road access from Observatory Road.

Restaurants on the street offer a variety of national dishes, such as Italian, French, American, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Turkish, and Russian

What to explore at Knutsford Terrace?

Most of the bars here are packed out a little earlier than Lan Kwai Fong and Wan Chai, from 8pm onwards; they also wind up a little earlier, around 12am. One of the added bonuses of Knutsford is that almost all the establishments have an al fresco option.Undoubtedly, the most famous stop on the Knutsford Terrace trail is Bahama Mamas, where the beach-themed bar seems to keep the crowd firmly in party mode. Also worth a look, just round the corner is the Observatory Court area, which hosts an ever-increasing number of bars - keep an eye out for Eight Fine Irishmen. Also worth a mention is Aqua Spirit in Tsim Sha Tsui, which features some of the best views of Hong Kong imaginable, as well as staff who know their stuff when it comes to cocktails.

Booked a table for 8, last week Friday Jan 17th. Have been at this restaurant twice a year for at least 5 years. I expected the food to be mediocre (as before), but the cook must have been in a very good mood because all of us were pleasantly surprised at the quality. We ran up quite a bill with many drinks/mezze's and shisha (close to HKS 450 per person) Had a great time, with the belly dancer throwing in some extra .. ehm.. spice :). Highly recommended. Once in a while...

After landing in HK, when staying in Kowloon, this is where I go to eat on my first night. Every type of cuisine is here and it is easy and lively and very HK. This is a great area to people watch and to acclimate to the atmosphere. The service in all of the restaurants is fast. Sit outside for the most fun.

As far as nightlife in Hong Kong is concerned, Lan Kwai Fong (on Hong Kong Island) is a must for tourist and if you are on Kowloon side, this is the best area. Short and packed with lots of bars and restaurants. Locals (including myself) do hang out here on weekend evenings as much as tourists. Food in most restaurants and bars (including those up in the buildings which pay lower rent) are pretty good and cheaper than those on Hong Kong Island (a general phenomenon in Hong Kong).

We stayed at Kimberley Hotel just across the street and this was very convenient. We would come here after a day's trip going around Hong Kong. We got a few drinks and unwounded a bit before calling it a night. We liked that there were a lot of different cuisines to choose from and crowd was not too rowdy. We went to the Woodfire grill place and the Italian restaurant during our visit. Both offered a good selection of bar chows, main course items and drinks. This is also a nice place to do some people watching. I specially liked admiring the good fashion sense of most of the women who pass by or hang out here.
