Why Khao Soi Lam Duan is special ?
One of the most enticing and delicious Khao Soi destinations in Chiang Mai is Khao Soi Lam Duan. The cooking styles incorporated by this particular restaurant are Burmese along with a mixture of the Chinese-Muslim cooking style. It is believed that Khao Soi Lam Duan was the first restaurant to came up with this style due to the influence of the Muslim Chin Haw – Muslim Chinese traders from the province of Yunnan – in Chiang Mai.
Must try dish:
Khao Soi
Typically revolving around chicken or beef, the optional sides of lime, sliced shallots and crunchy pickled greens provide a pleasing contrast with the rich, spice-laden, coconut milk-based broth and soft, squiggly wheat-and-egg noodles.

Reviews
Khao Soi is a must get item in Chiang Mai. A curry and coconut (cream) noodle soup is the best way to describe it. After searching the blogs, found a great review on this place. It is not in Old Town. It was a 45 minute walk from our hotel in the rain, but totally worth it. This is a spot for the locals and foodies like myself who do their research. My buddy and I got two bowls of khao soi - one beef, one chicken. I thought the beef was great, but the chicken was memorable. So memorable that I got a second bowl. It was the first "magic bite" on the trip and so glad I went there. So fragrant, so rich, so flavorful, so goooood! As for price, they are very fair. No markup for tourists. Total bill for three bowls of khao soi, spring rolls, and 3 waters was 185 baht. Visited July 2015
We stopped at this restaurant on the recommendation of our guide to try the authentic and traditional khao soi. Most lunch guests were local and the wait staff were all from hill tribe villages. Our guide helped us through the menu and we were all very satisfied with our meal. Definitely worth a try during your visit to Chiang Mai if you really want to try true Northern Thai food. Khao Soi is basically a spicy soup with noodles and choice of chicken, beef or pork and has its roots in Burma. Give it a try.
Having eaten Khao Soi and quite a number of places i tried this place after recommendation from a Thai friend and as was said to me, probably the best in Chiang Mai. The serving size was quite large compared to other places and the Khao Soi had just the right amount of spice. For anyone wanting to try Khao Soi I can recommend this place for a great meal.
Known to be the best Khao Soi. The broth is quite rich and creamy. The service is poor. Expect to wait for a table during lunch time and holiday season.
