Why Kaab Gluay Restaurant is special ?
In a town where most menus feature such dubious delights as “deep-frei skid” and “Flench flies”, Kaab Gluay stands out as the spelling on the picture menu is almost word perfect, which probably shows that they mean business.
Must try dishes:
Gaeng Keaw Wan Gai, the rich coconut milk base paired with chunks of chicken, round Thai eggplant, and chillies, is a recipe for ultimate culinary comfort
Predominantly seafood, the restaurant’s chefs work hard at preparing colourful and tasty dishes, such as whole sweet-and-sour fish (price according to weight),
Steamed prawns with various choices of sauce (220 baht),
Stir-fried crab with curry powder, tom yam seafood (110 baht)
Stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts (120 baht)
How to get to Kaab Gluay Restaurant?
The cosy terrace Kaab Gluay Restaurant is located on the main Phrabaramee Road in Patong. For those driving from Kathu and Phuket Town heading towards Patong Beach, after reaching the bottom of Patong Hill, after around 500 metres you will see the Kaab Gluay on the right hand side, it is just before the Esso petrol station, which is on the left hand side.

Reviews
We decided on this restaurant after reading some reviews on Tripadvisor and a Singaporean blog. Our lunch at Patong was very disappointing as the Thai food was not tasty at all and we were very unhappy. We decided to splurge a bit and make a trip beyond the main Patong area. We managed to negotiate with a tuk tuk to bring us there for 200baht and a 10min ride. We ordered 4 dishes, Soft Shell Crab fried with Garlic, Duck with thick curry sauce (was more of a gravy) , Chinese kale with roast pork, and stewed herbal pork (I've forgotten what the actual name was). They were all very good and authentic Thai dishes that you would not find at the Patong main beach area itself. The total bill plus 2 plates of white rice, lime juice and Thai milk tea came up to 880 baht. We thought it was very reasonable compared to main Patong area which you'd probably pay as much for only 2 dishes. The only down side is that you have to take a tuk tuk to and fro and they would not budge below 200 baht each way. However, I highly recommend to have one of your meals here as the food is delicious, price is lower than main Patong and quite worth the trip!
Ate here twice on a recent trip to Phuket. Service was not so good second time but food standard really excellent. 2 areas to eat a big restaurant non air con plus a smaller area ( seats 30 I guess) that is air-conditioned. Managed to park on road outside both times.
