Why Jolly Brewery+Restaurant is special ?
Jolly offers up an unusual but tantalizing combination of Thai food and beer from the restaurant’s microbrewery.
Jolly’s current drink special is passionfruit witbier (wheat bear) made from a blend of barley malts with unmalted wheat and oats. Passion fruit is added during the first fermentation. The juice’s acidic flavor adds a gentle but tart kick to the witbier’s honey-like aroma and crisp, yeasty flavor.
The light, slightly sweet beer paired very well with the spicy squid salad (NT$280), made with squid, basil, cherry tomatoes and red onion gently tossed with a mixture of jalapeno peppers, fish sauce and lemon juice. The texture and taste of the crisp red onions and vinegary cherry tomatoes was a toothsome contrast to the tender but firm slices of squid.
All the classic Thai curries — red, green and yellow — appear on Jolly’s menu, and are thick, rich and creamy without being cloying. You can also try: chicken with coconut milk soup (NT$300)
A genuine brewery and a restaurant is hard find in Taiwan, but becoming more of a trend. The manager, Lawrence Lin believes it's about time that island consumers have what the Europeans been enjoying for along long time with a broad selection of ales. During months, patrons can sit on a pleasant outside patio and drink beers like Pilsner, pale ale, Weizen and Stout

“5 stars for beer and ambiance” Went to this restaurant last night with a group of friends, and we had a great time! Jolly serves a nice variety of micro-brews, and my husband being a beer enthusiast really liked drinking the good stuff (as opposed to Taiwan Beer or the other imported cheap ones) I enjoyed the music a lot, and the place was full, so I recommend making a reservation. The food came out very quickly, and although it wasn't the best Thai I've had, the service was good, and the good vibe and atmosphere makes the place worth it. I will say, though, the stout tiramisu was EXCELLENT! I was very pleasantly surprised. I'm giving Jolly five stars because although their food doesn't shine, the good times you'll have hanging out in a nice place will friends will make the cut. I'll definitely come back!
I've been going to Jolly for years, and it's never disappoints me. Everything there is good to great. The red curry chicken is amazing and I order at least one order every time I go. It has a kind of sports bar feel to it, but a classy one. What I especially love about this place is the micro brewed beers. You can get a personal favorite or you can order a flight beers and sample everything they have to offer. I haven't had a bad beer from this place though I do certainly prefer couple of the sweeter ones. The sports bar feel of this place comes from all the televisions everywhere every table seems to have one and they're all playing some variation of something with a ball. However I'm willing to forgive this due to the fact that the food is awesome.
