Why Hon Mun Island is special ?
Mun Island has many coral, which is great for diving. Below the depth of 5 metres the coral is a spectacular sight. This island is managed by Marine Protected Area (MPA) Nha Trang. It is named Ebony Island because the high-rise cliffs are as black as ebony. Hon Mun (Ebony Island) is a prime diving and snorkeling site and is a protected area. Due to its proximity to hot-sea currents, the sea bed is home to an abundant and diverse group of marine species. Dive shops organise half-day trips to the island for diving and snorkeling. Alternatively, you can rent a private boat for USD45 for the trip.

Tips for you
We visited Mun island via private boat/tour from the Evason Ana Mandara Resort and loved it. Fast boat ride in crystal clear water to the snorkelling site. The water was just right temperature wise and so much to see. No rush from our guide, we could take our time and absorb the calming atmosphere. I would do this again in a heartbeat. Yes, there can be a few other boats filled with tourists but no real issue for us, plenty of room for everyone.
