Why Ho Chi Minh Square is special ?
The Ho Chi Minh Square is bordered by City Hall, the beautiful Rex Hotel and numerous French and Vietnamese restaurants. In the centre of HCMC, at the end of Nguyen Hue, sits the magnificent office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee. Completed in 1908 by the French, the former Hotel de Ville's design is based on the Paris original. It remains as one of the most stunning colonial monuments especially when floodlit at night. Make sure to visit the statue of Ho Chi Minh on the /median strip outside.
Keep in mind that because Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is a working government building, the public is not allowed inside. However, don't let that stop you from taking a bazillion photos of the photogenic cream and yellow architecture from outside the building. On the roof is a bell tower placed on a pyramid-shaped podium. Pose outside the building and snap some memorable shots of one of Saigon's most famous landmarks.
What to explore at Ho Chi Minh Square?
This historic area is bordered by City Hall, the beautiful Rex Hotel and numerous French and Vietnamese restaurants. Square with Ho Chi Minh's statue in front of Ho Chi Minh City Hall. At night the trees, flags and building is illuminated and it's very beautiful. There are very many tourists visit this place.
There’s some irony in the Ho Chi Minh City Hall being a stately old French colonial building. Built in the early 20th century, it’s only slightly less ornate than the building it’s clearly modeled on–the Hotel de Ville in Paris.
In front of the building is a large statue of Uncle Ho himself, seated, teaching a Vietnamese child. The man who devoted so much of his life to throwing off the yoke of French colonialism now has pride of place in front of this oh-so-French building.

Tips for you
Sunday night was a great time to visit. The roads are closed and pedestrians are out in force. There are groups sitting around wit guitars and playing and singing. The water shows are a great spectacle but watch out they don't start when you are walking through. A place where everyone, locals and tourists gather to enjoy the evening. Well worth a visit.
