Hangang Excursion Boat

I went on the evening cruise just as the sun was setting. It was perfect timing as we could see part of Seoul during daylight/dusk and then as evening as the way back. We stopped by the Rainbow Bridge to view the light show, which was synchronized to music and quite a good show. It went on a bit too long, but was still interesting. There are seats inside and outside, on two levels, drinks available for purchase and it's narrated in Korean and English (may have to ask to have them turn up the volume in order to hear). If you're looking for something to do in the evening, this is a great option.

I have tried this twice. Once in the afternoon and once in the evening. The afternoon cruise is usually empty and have a lazy afternoon feeling. You will feel like taking a siesta. The evening cruise is more crowded but better. The view of Seoul from the Han River is quite different. Especially if you know the history of the Korean war. it is hard to imagine assault boats crossing the river and tracer bullets flying from the banks. It is so contrasting to the clean and serene parks that line the river now. If you enjoy wide open space and parks, the cruise is nice. Bring a picnic basket or you can pick up drinks and food from the convenience store near the subway station and join the locals. Good if you come with family and kids. You can rent bicycles and if you are up to it, running by the river bank is quite nice. There is also a new fried chicken and beer joint next to the convenience store. Good place ot have a cool mug of beer in the open air. Then hop on the cruise in the evening. The city is all lighted up and pretty. At the halfway mark, it will stop near a bridge that turns into a fountain that spray water into the river. (The fountain only operate in the evening). Quite a nice sight.Take Subway Line 5 and go to Yeouinaru Station go out on Exit 1. You will be at the river side park. Look for the boats and buy tickets from a booth nearby. There are different prices for different time and some come with dinner, magic show, or live music. Personally I will just go for the plain vanilla version.
