Tips for you
We enjoyed our visit to the Guandong Museum in Guangzhou in July. We presented our passports at the entrance and walked up the long outdoor approach to enter what looked like the mouth of the museum. It was an American holiday, so the museum was not crowded at all! We have walked by on very hot or rainy weekend days and seen people standing in line waiting to get in! We focused on kid-friendly things like dinosaurs and gems, although the museum had many other kinds of treasures to enjoy. They had quite a selection of stuffed animals (as in taxidermy). All were animals that had at one time, or in the present, lived in the region. I loved the very large fossil wall with plants - majestic! The building is beautiful and thoughtfully planned. To get to the dinosaur/marine life hall, you do have to wind all the way through the natural history part, and then look for the animal area. There are a couple of spots throughout the building to rest and take in the view of the nearby river. The bathrooms are traditional in style - prepare to squat! And, you must leave your bags in a keyed locker at the front.
