Why Fulong Beach is special ?
Fulong Beach, also known as Fulong Bathing Beach (福隆海水浴場), is located at Fulong Village, Gongliao District, New Taipei City at Northeastern Taiwan. It is the outlet of the Shuang River.
The sands there are golden, which is rare in Taiwan. Nearby is a camping site named Longmen. This beach is a favorite in the summer for people living in northern Taiwan.
The Shuang River divides the beach into inner and outer parts. There is a footbridge named Rainbow Bridge (彩虹橋) linking the two parts. However, the watercourse of the river varies every year to some extent; sometimes the bridge is functional; other times it is not, because the seaside end would be in the river or in the sea.
Recently the sands of the beach have been diminishing year by year, and the coastline is moving shoreward; i.e., the beach is shrinking. It is believed to be related to the staithe built for the Fourth Nuclear Power Plant of Taiwan for equipment disembarking.

What to explore at Fulong Beach?
Enjoy a day at the beach. The sand can be ultra hot. It costs less than NT$100 to enter the paid area of the beach; if you need a beach umbrella, you can rent one. Farther to the southeast, near the temple, is an excellent free area of beach. There are no waves and the water is warm but it is a nice place to relax as the water is clean.
Attend the three day Hohaiyan Rock Festival held here every July.
Every summer, huge number of domestic and international tourist would gather here to swim and enjoy the sun. Visitors may find surfboards, canoes, kayaks and other water sport equipments ready for hire and a fee along the beach front.
How to get to Fulong Beach?
By train: The train station is within easy walking distance to the beach. It takes about an hour to get to Fulong from Taipei. You want to catch the express as it only takes 70 minutes. The local is much longer. The express train doesn't leave so often though and you may have to wait for it.
By bus: Buses from points north and south ply the route along Provincial Highway 2.
