We have enjoyed excellent meals at FADO in 2016, similar to the very good experiences enjoyed at this restaurant last year. The Posta Mirandesa served here is outstanding. Prime grade beef, grilled beautifully and served with a vinegar and olive oil sauce on a bed of garlic spinach and potatoes. This is a top-notch steak that FADO has consistently made to the highest of standards each time we have ordered. We also very much like the Arroz de pato and suckling pig. These are traditional Portuguese dishes, FADO serves up with a bit of a modern twist and they are delicious. The suckling pig is prepared as a terrine (see pictures), it is compact, succulent and just delicious, served with home-made potato chips, this is a real winner of a dish if you like pork dishes. They also have very good desserts. We really like the Almond Monastery cake but find the Pumpkin lava cake too good not to order and have gone with this serving the past couple of meals. Drink list is good at FADO, they have a fair range of reasonably priced wines, soft drinks and beers. Pre-meal breads, three olive oil varieties and light bites of pickled carrots, olive shred sun dried infused butter is great. Service is attentive, friendly and do a nice job as well. In the end, this is not Michelin dining but a casual affair instead. However, the presentation and quality of the meals we have had at FADO over the past year have been surprisingly impressive, making this one of our personal favourites in Macau at this time.

Located on the M floor of Royal Hotel, it's not so easy to find on the first visit but worth going there again and again. Nice quiet corner away from the crowded areas where we can enjoy a little peace while eating authentic Portuguese food and nicely presented. They also have lunch menu changing regularly and quite affordable for the quality provided. Definitely a good option for a visit or a regular place to have lunch if you work nearby.
