Why Fa Yuen Street Market is special ?
Fa Yuen Street Market is a busy market which is primarily a market for locals but has become popular with tourists in recent years. The market runs along Fa Yuen Street from Mongkok Road to Prince Edward Road in Mongkok and is famous for its factory outlet stores with well known Western brands, cheap footwear shops and young trendy fashion.
With over fifty stores selling sport shoes, the street is also known as Sport Shoes Street or Sneaker Street (波鞋街). Fa Yuen (花園) means "garden" in Cantonese. During the Ming Dynasty (A.D 1368-AD. 1644) and the Qing Dynasty (AD 1644-AD 1911), Fa Yuen Street was a place of growing flowers, belonged to Mong Kok village at that time.

What to explore at Fa Yuen Street Market?
A wide variety of other goods goods, including fashion accessories, toys, souvenirs, watches, electrical goods and fruit and vegetables. Many stallholders in this market only offer goods at fixed prices which are rock bottom although some are willing to bargain. There are also bargains to be had in the shops lining the street behind the market stalls. The market is very close to Ladies Market which is located along parallel Tung Choi Street, from its Argyle Street junction south to Dundas Street. In November 2011 a tragedy occurred when, during the night, fire broke out in one of the stalls in the section of market between Bute Street and Argyle Street, which spread to an adjacent building resulting in the loss of nine lives.

Reviews
Personally a big fan of sneakers. Definitely a place you would want to check out if you're into footwear. Most stores carry the same few brands, however, particular designs go for cheaper than usual (20-50% cheaper, just because) and some stores carry never-before-seen designs that seem unique to HK itself (I'm sure they're authentic, and not fakes). HK people seem to like wearing sneakers a lot too, so you sure will fit in just fine.
Great place to go shop like a baller! A little goes a long way here from cheap clothing to hair accessories. Great place to shop for tourists & locals. Love coming here to roam all the bargains!
