Chomphet Village and Temple Complex is really off the beaten track spot which is very quiet and peaceful to visit. The Budda complex holds a stunning large Buddha .The village holds its own celebrations there which is colorful. The village is quite nice with lots of sculptors which makes the place very unique in your eyes.
Stone Buddha here is well know by Lao Buddhists. People come here to experience the great architecture and traditional lifestyle of locals. It's great spot to learn about Laotian culture and the beauty of the most peaceful village iin Pask as well as admire some locals handicraft
What to explore at Chomphet Stone Sculpture Village and Temple Complex?
You can visit the sculptors. And if you continue on the road where you`d turn right to go to Vat Chomphet (there`s this big red gateway that you can see in one of the pictures above) to get to the Mekong. Chill out at the Sala on top of the river or chill your feet in the river.
This village is situted near Pakse. The village and temple complex are called Champhet. A Tuk TUK from Pakse will take you there, wait up to 2 hours for about $12. You will see stone Buddhas being carved from a block of stone to the finished item. Also cheaper ones made from precast models then finished by hand. It is interesting to see original traditions .
How to get to Chomphet Stone Sculpture Village and Temple Complex?
If you come here by bike, you`ll see the Buddha statue from road 13 on your left hand side about 4 km after the airport. That`s a little before Vat Dong Ka Long appears on the right hand side. There´s no sign on road 13 so make sure you turn left before you´ve passed the statue.

This is really off the beaten track and awesome. Very quiet and peaceful. Of course a visit to the big golden Buddha statue doesn`t take long. But you can also visit the sculptors.
