Reviews
I found the Buddhism temple in Google Map near my hotel in Sengokuhara because it had a traditional Chinese name Chang'an (it's read as Choanji in Japanese but written as same kanji/character in both Chinese and Japanese). I'm very interested in the culture and history between China and Japan, so I made my trip to it. Even though we learnt that Buddhism has been practiced in Japan since Tang Dynasty, but this temple is not totally as same as Chinese. Partly, it has been Japanization. You don't need to wash your hand before you pray in Chinese Temple, but you need to in Choanji Temple. There is no tomb of ordinary people in Chinese Temple (At least I didn't find the ones. If you know, feel free to tell me. :) ),but there are a lot in Choanji Temple. You don't need to shake rings when you pray, but you need to in Choanji Temple. Eighteen Arhats in the temple are familiar to Chinese. The architecture made me think of Classical Gardens of Suzhou. The quiet path made me think of Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. Indescribable feeling.
