Tips for you
Positives Staff We have absolutely loved staying at this beautiful hotel. All the staff work very hard and the customer service is always served with a smile. We would like to say a special thank you to samantha and shefiq who work at the waves pool bar, always made sure we had a drink in our hand. Cleanliness The rooms are cleaned twice a day. Very well kept and clean hotel throughout. Rooms We stayed in a sunset spa deluxe water villa. We had a jacuzzi on our deck. Although I would probably recommend it just for a few nights ( we stayed in one for 12 nights) these villas are the furthest away from anything as they are meant to be more private but to walk anywhere is a treck, I think next time we will book eather a closer water villa or a beach bungalow. The bungalows do move with the waves, sometimes the waves crash against the steps and can be very loud! Beautiful water bungalows though and would recommend at least for a few nights for the amazing experience. Private dolphin cruise 350$ plus 22 percent tax and service charge. We decided to do a private dolphin cruise (just myself and my parter and two staff members) this was fantastic and would defiantly recommend! We must have seen about 100 dolphins, jumping doing spins ect, was fantastic to see them in their natural habitat and a special thanks to the guys that took us on this very memorable experience. Turtle quest 50$ per person plus 22 percent tax and service charge. This was a 50/50 excursion as to whether you would see turtles, we managed to see one turtle, I would say that it's worth doing but don't be disappointed if you don't see any. Food We are very happy with the food served in the restaurants, we went to the oceans restaurant (buffet) everyday of the week (new theme every day) and was very nice. It's also nice to see different food every day and was no way you could get bored of the food, we also tried the Italian restaurant for both dinner and lunch and this was also very good! (unfortunately didn't try the other restaurants) the food is always fresh and tasty. Negatives Over all the island and the staff are fantastic although there was just one excursion I was disappointed about. Whale shark snorkelling (1500 dollars plus 22 percent tax and service charge) (up to 6 people) We spoke to the diving centre as there was 8 of us that wanted to do this trip, kindly they let our other 2 friends on the trip with us which we was very grateful for, This trip was roughly 1800 dollars with tax split between the couples. We were told that we have a 99.5 percent chance in seeing a whale shark so we decided to go ahead and do it! We were asked to be at the diving centre at 7:45am ready to leave for a two hour journey to get to the spot that we needed, once getting to the spot we were floating about for nearly 4 hours trying to find one, this didn't happen, we had a few crausaunts, some fruit and water between us for breakfast, by this time we needed to refuel! We went to centara grand which was another 30 mins away, once arrived we got of the boat to stretch our legs (also hoping to get some food and drink) we explained to the staff that we are all inclusive in the sister hotel and was very hungry and thirsty by this time, they were reluctant to even give us bottled water! we decided to ask for the main manager, (who was on the other side of the very small island and we got told he was busy) it then started storming which delayed us even more in getting back to our hotel to eat, we managed to speak to the diving centre manager who managed to get us tea and coffee and some muffins, we was great full for what he could get us but this just wasn't enough for our empty stomachs. After the storm has passed we managed to get in the boat for our 2.5 hour journey back to centara ras fushi, we were very tired, drained, and very hungry, once arrived back at the resort we then got told we had to pay full price! We managed to get 50 dollars off per couple but it's still so much to pay for not seeing what you are paying for, not only was this a lot of money but we wasted a day where we could has spend on the island and had barely any food (also cost us over £550 per day to stay), we can understand that the ocean isn't an aquarium and I can understand that fuel and wages for the 2 workers that took us needed paying but I don't believe this was 1500 dollars worth, after being out at rough sea for 10 hours and feeling very sea sick luckily we didn't let it ruin the last day of our holiday. Recommendations To future guests I wouldn't recommend going to centara grand for a good few months (currently a building site for renovation). I would also recommend to anyone that there is no point going gold all inclusive unless you get a good deal! We was quoted £1200 to upgrade to gold, thank fully we didn't do it as would have been very disappointed! There are just a few extra cocktails that you can drink on it and the mini bar in the room ( although everything is only 2 dollars anyway and wouldn't of thought I would have spent £1200 pounds worth! ) I would defiantly recommend to anyone to stay at centara ras fushi, just I wouldn't recommend the whale shark snorkelling unless you are prepared to lose a lot of money.
I recommend booking any of the cottages 218, 220, 222, 224, 226, 228 until 230 these have a great view of the ocean and utter privacy on the deck overlooking the sea.
