Why Bun Thit Nuong Chi Thong is special ?

The name of Chi Thong’s signature dish, Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, says almost everything you need to know. Bun Thit Nuong loosely translates to “rice noodles with grilled meat,” which in this case is pork. And Cha Gio is a type of spring roll packed with seasoned meat, mushrooms, and diced vegetables all wrapped in moist rice paper before being fried into golden, crispy tubes of deliciousness.

What the name doesn’t tell you is that all of those ingredients are saturated in a sweet fish sauce and topped off with fresh herbs, pickled carrots, and roasted peanuts. The result is an outrageous combination of textures and flavors. Every bite is a medley of silky noodles, crunchy peanuts, and crispy spring rolls accented by sweet broth, savory meat, bitter herbs, and vinegary carrots. It’s like a symphony in your mouth.

Looking for breakfast close to the hotel, i used the trip advisor near me feature, which by the way is quite good when other travelers participate. The server had zero English, but the menu posted on the wall had some which helped a bit. When she severed the food, she showed us how to eat it as the locals do. The dishes were quite good and prices dirt cheap.

Went here on recommendation of a local as a great spot for one of my favorite Vietnamese's dishes, Bun Thit Nuong. I was not disappointed. Even on arriving, you'll be enticed by the sweet smelling BBQ pork. Tell the lady serving that you'll have 1 bun thit nuong with everything. The meat is on point. The fried spring rolls are amazing, served hot and chopped up over a bed of cool vermicelli noodles, fresh herbs, and cucumber, doused with sweat and spicy fish sauce. This is traditionally served as a breakfast dish, but is also quite nice for lunch. All for a mere 45K dong a bowl. Wash it all down with an icy cool tra da.
