Easy to get off the beaten track and away from the hordes. Great views of the Fragrant Hills and a nice lake. The hothouse is spectacular with amazing recreations of rainforest and desert habitats

Nice place to stroll in in early Spring and late Autumn. For most people would flock to this place very early in the morning just to complete to parking space and morning air. After being in Beijing for a while, I know that the better time to get good photos without any people (who you don't want) is after 4 PM. The sun still shine, garden still under sunlight and people is less.Be aware of walking close to Chinese man because they usually split on the walk way.

Coming to the Beijing Botanical Gardens on a week day was a really good idea. I took the subway line 2 this morning from QainMen ?? to transfer station XiZhiMen ???. Then I got onto line 4 heading to BeiGongMen ???. Not to far from exit A I took bus 331(or 696, the subway cart makes this journey 40cents instead of 1?) and got off at ZhiWuYaun ??? (Beijing Botanical Garden). Be patient on the bus, because there is quite a few stops before you need to get of. I took the 10? ticket because I came to relax and refresh in the park. It's really worth coming!

I was worried about crowds after reading all the reviews. But I went on a Wednesday in June and had the place to myself all day. There were more workers than tourists. The only other foreigner I saw entered at 3:30 when I was leaving. Take subway line 4to Beigongmen, exit A, both buses 331 and 563 from here for 13 stops to Beijing Zhiwuyuan Namen. This is about a 1/2 hour ride. This enters the Garden at the southeast gate. Basic entry 10 rmb, can buy combo ticket of 50 rmb for entry into Conservatory and Wofu Temple. I got the combo and enjoyed the Conservatory. If you have never been to another temple you may enjoy it, it's small. I did like the turtle rafts. I did not like that many destinations are not listed on the Garden map(you can get a free map in the tourist office just past the entry. The Bee museum and butterfly house are both not listed. Bee museum is free between the Magnolia garden and the Mei flower garden. The Butterfly house is 10 rmb and is across from the Penjing Garden. I wish I had more time to explore as there was a sign that said
