+ In the rainy season this 10-metre high waterfall is quite precipitous but if you visit from December to May it slows down a little yet you can still 'go native' and take a refreshing dip in one of its drop pools or at the main drop itself.

+ The trail heading through the jungle is 'helped along' by some concrete reinforcements but you still have to duck under fallen tree trunks and, although you don't have to swing like Tarzan from creeper-to-creeper, it still is physically demanding.

+ Ton Sai Waterfall is another equally famous fall on the other side of the hill. It takes around 20 minutes by car to get there from Bang Pae. Give it a try if time allows – you can use the same ticket to enter Ton Sai.

  • Even though some asnimals are kept in cages, humans are not allowed to go very close to them. It is small and there are many rocks on the ground so you have to move carefully. It is small and there are many rocks on the ground so you have to move carefully.
  • On the way out, before reaching the main road (3 km away from the waterfall), stop at the Bang Pae Elephant Camp and play with the baby elephant. For 20 baht you get to feed him bananas and take some great photos. You can also go for an elephant ride in the rubber plantation, it's quite a nice setting.
  • To wrap up the morning, you can go for lunch at a great seafood restaurant nearby called 'Bang Pae Seafood' with a nice view on the mangrove and the sea. To reach this restaurant, at the elephant camp intersection, turn left instead of right, drive 300 meters until you see a large red sign where you will turn right and drive until the end of the road.

Definately worth a visit, you don't see too much of the gibbons, just a few of them they are in enclosures, all natural and well cared for, and some are higher up into the hills in rehab, lots of gibbon noises within the grounds lovely to hear them, :-)) But although it is sad to know what they have been through previously it is also good to know that they are now safe and being cared for and all donations will help them a lot, you can even sponsor one (or 2 if you like) lots of souveniers in the shop there too, all goes toward the care of the gibbons The waterfalls are not the biggest but are very nice, it's about a 500mt walk up along a narrow, bit rocky and a gradual hilly climb through lots of bush and greenery, very pretty and no more bugs than we get here in the bush in australia, didn't see anything scary anyway haha We enjoyed our visit there last year and maybe will go again this year, might get to sponsor one of them this year (already got an ellie in Chang Mai haha)
