I came here on a Saturday morning as part of my orientation of the city. I met some very friendly University student volunteers who gave some helpful advice about places to visit and provided me with a handful of brochures.

visited the BP in August 2012 and encountered very friendly and knowledgeable staff who made efforts to explain the necessary to us. We also discussed the history of the building and some tourist information books (e.g. Walks through major cities in Indonesia). There were also some interesting books (e.g. Surabaya in the olden days) and staff offered help to acquire them (as we would have to leave some days later). Later I received the books, one of which even personally signed by the author himself. This was truly a memorable gift (tandamata) from Surabaya, for which I am grateful to both the BP employee as well as the writer.
