Why Avenue of Stars is special ?

The Avenue of Stars is a 400-metre long stretch of waterside promenade along the northern side of Victoria Harbour, in front of the New World Centre at Tsim Sha Tsui. The avenue, which was built along an existing promenade, opened in April 2004. It cost HK$40 million to construct, was designed by local architects AGC Design, financed by New World Group and supported by government bodies including Hong Kong Tourism Board, Hong Kong Tourism Commission and the Hong Kong Film Awards Association. On completion it was donated to the Hong Kong SAR Government by New World Group.

What to explore at Avenue of Stars?

There are 73 movie celebrities' tablets inlaid on the surface of the avenue. 30 celebrities also left their handprints on their tablets, including Jackie Chan, Jet Lee, and Andy Lau. Standing on the avenue is a 3-meter bronze statue of Kung Fu Star Bruce Lee. Hong Kong was the starting point of his movie career. He left here for Hollywood and made several very famous Kung Fu movies enjoyed by audiences around the world.

At the entrance to the avenue stands a bronze simulation of an Oscar statue and a small stage for performances. Walking along the avenue, visitors can find many snack shops, souvenir booths, some statues relating to movies and benches to sit and rest. There are roaming "Star Ambassadors" on roller skates, offering assistance when needed.

We visited Avenue of the Starts during over very first evenings in Hnk Kong. As we were staying at Kowloon Shangrila - this was just a matter of crossing the street for us. The Avenue of the Stars seems to be a popular location for the tourists from Mainland China as they were enthusiastically taking pictures of the stars and statues alike. We did not recognise most of the names and were excited when we found out one that we did know. We were just happy to wander and take in the atmosphere and take a nice stroll of the place which is right on the sea-front.

This is a good place during the night time because of the city lights and elegant view of the city.LOCATION: The location is in Tsim Sha Tsui, nearby terminals, and if you are used to long walks and strolling, it is nearby shopping centers of designer brands such as Prada, Zara, LV, and other big brands.HIGHLIGHTS: Unless you are really a fan of Hong Kong Stars and Films, there is not much things to do here aside from taking photo opts, taking long walks, enjoying the city lights and view, and watch the Symphony of Lights which starts at 8:00 PM. There are stars along the pathways with names I am not familiar with. You can see the statue of the famous Bruce Lee which was the most crowded with photo opts. There are also seats for a rest, or while waiting for the Symphony of Lights. There is available free government wi- fi around the area. Also, it is accessible to the Clock Tower so it's a good choice of visiting those attractions all at once.

Enjoy the view in the evening, do not miss the Bruce Lee statue nor the current daily laser show over the skyline on the other side (at 20:00 p.m.)
