Why 999 Shan Noodle Shop is special ?

This pint-size, cheap-and-cheerful noodle stall is equally popular with locals and tourists. The friendly proprietors speak English well, and the picture menu has English descriptions. The noodles are those of the Shan ethnic group, and servings are available in soup or taken dry (e.g., fried-rice noodles with chicken). Rounding out the menu are sautéed vegetables, fried tofu, and pork skin. The owners can prepare plain and mild noodle dishes if you're not one for spice. Inexpensive local beer is available, too.

Some must-try dishes

Shan-style tofu noodles

A dish of Shan-style noodles is made from thin, flat rice noodles well-cooked broth with marinated chicken or pork, toasted sesame and a drizzle of garlic oil. It's served with fresh vegetables.

Great place to have Myanmar cuisine without worrying about the repercussions. Compared to other local establishments, it stands out as really clean and efficient service. The Shan noodle "salad with dressing" is their signature dish and really good. Be sure to add the spicy sauce if you like a little more flavor. For just a few dollars you get a fair helping of noodles, tea, soup, and a small dish of pickled vegetables. What's not to love?
